ReplyDeleteHarry Hughes, Painter: work impressive, mature, developed, evocative, subtly expressive, underlaid with sound draughtsmanship, holds the viewer. Light/dark clearly important to artist - and to the work. Thanks for opportunity to view (long-distance).

Agreeing with the comment from Jill West, Harry Hugh's paintings surely do hold the viewer! The uses of color grab my attention and the mastery of light hold my eyes to the work. I really like how Harry portrays the sheen of the wood flooring. Every painting cries out AUSTRALIA! Thanks for creating this blog Harry!

The exhibition was a great success. There are a few paintings still for sale.
ReplyDeleteThis is Harry's first exhibition, and he is still learning, so the prices are low.
Kitchen Bench $250
Kitchen Window $200
The Garden Room $300
The Verandah $200
And the etchings are each $90 unframed (Night Study is all sold, but there are prints left of each of the other etchings seen above.)
Oops, there are no etchings pictured above!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you are interested in seeing the etchings, or want to know the dimensions of the paintings, email me, Harry's no-commission dealer (and Dad)
